These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cassandra, a cascading earth systems intelligence platform operated by Lonia AI ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using Cassandra at cassandra.lonia.ai, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you are using Cassandra on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Informational use only
Cassandra provides data synthesis and visualization for informational purposes. It does not constitute scientific advice, policy recommendations, or predictions. All data is sourced from published research and public datasets, and uncertainty ranges are stated where applicable.
Do not use Cassandra as the sole basis for emergency response, evacuation, investment, public health, or any other decision with material consequences. Consult qualified professionals and primary peer-reviewed sources for decisions in those domains.
Description of service
Cassandra is a web-based platform that synthesizes peer-reviewed data across nine earth system chains: ocean circulation, permafrost, coral reefs, pollinators, forests, rivers, ice sheets, weather patterns, and food systems. The platform provides real-time monitoring, cross-chain analysis, and synthesized briefings for scientific, policy, and public audiences.
The marketing site at cassandra.lonia.ai is currently live. The application is in development. Paid tier subscriptions will open at launch.
Account responsibilities
For paid tiers, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your OAuth account and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@lonia.ai if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
If you administer accounts for a team, institution, or organization, you are responsible for ensuring that your users comply with these Terms.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Cassandra only for its intended purpose: understanding and synthesizing earth system data. You may not:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Misrepresent Cassandra's data, citations, or uncertainty ranges
- Strip source citations from exported content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
- Use the service to store or transmit malicious code
- Resell or redistribute the service without written authorization
- Scrape the application's API beyond rate limits or contractual terms
Subscriptions and billing
Cassandra is offered through a free public tier and paid subscription tiers. Pricing, plan details, and billing terms are described on the Pricing page.
Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' written notice. Price changes do not affect the current billing period.
Public tier
The public tier is offered free of charge for general informational use. We reserve the right to apply reasonable rate limits to prevent abuse, and to define what content is included in the public tier over time. We will not unilaterally place existing public-tier features behind a paywall without notice.
Your content
For paid tiers, you retain ownership of any content you save into the platform, such as custom dashboard configurations, saved scenarios, or annotations. By saving content into the platform, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
We do not access, review, or use your saved content for any purpose other than delivering the service, except as required by law.
Intellectual property
Cassandra, including its design, code, dashboards, and synthesized briefings, is the intellectual property of Lonia AI. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the service as described here.
Underlying scientific datasets remain the property of their respective publishers and licensors. Cassandra cites and links to those sources. You are responsible for understanding any redistribution restrictions on the underlying data when exporting from the platform.
Limitation of liability
Cassandra is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lonia AI disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Lonia AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of Cassandra.
Our total liability for any claim arising from the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars if you have not paid us, whichever is greater.
Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support@lonia.ai. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law.
Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We will retain your data according to our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and the parties consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be communicated via email to account holders at least 30 days before taking effect.
Your continued use of Cassandra after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
